The Best New Sneaker Shop in NYC Is From Boston - By GQ

In 2014, one of Boston's best sneaker stores, Concepts, popped on Hudson St. in Manhattan. Since then, the store has served up a narrow slice of what the Cambridge outpost stocks, sometimes only to sell one hyped-up sneaker or jacket. But after a successful pop-up run, Concepts decided to renovate the SoHo space and put down permanent roots. In other words, the boys from Beantown are coming to the Big Apple for good.
Of course, the retail landscape is different in New York than Boston. For one, it's more crowded—especially when it comes to sneaker shops. In Manhattan alone there's Kith, Extra Butter, and Flight Club, not mention high-end department stores, like Barneys, who have put serious weight behind their sneaker offerings. So how does Concepts plan to compete? By not stocking the same stuff as the other guys. They'll have the requisite Yeezys and Jordans that cause kids to line up for days, but in between hyped-up releases there will be a steady stream of Reeboks, New Balances, and even Birkenstocks you won't find anywhere else (often made in collaboration with Concepts). On the apparel side, there's everything from in demand Japanese label Visvim to surf/skate/streetwear pioneer Stüssy, plus more mainstream finds from brands like Canada Goose.

As for the space, it falls somewhere between modern minimalist and Japanese Zen garden. In the future, plants will be hung on the walls, and a green room is being installed out back. For now, some brick flooring and incense will have to do, creating one of the most chill shopping destinations we've seen. And in the often hectic and anxiety-inducing world of sneaker shopping, that's quite a concept.
Concepts is located at 225 Hudson Street.

Jimmy Fallon for J.Crew

All too many of us have left our iPhones hanging out of pockets and jackets. At worst, they're begging to fall to the floor and shatter, or, at the very least, they make our outfits look sloppy.
Jimmy Fallon knows this pain, and has just partnered with J. Crew to launch "The Pocket Dial." And no, it has nothing to do with pocket dialing exes — it's a hybrid pocket square and iPhone case.
Check out Jimmy Fallon announcing his idea last night on The Tonight Show:

Here the actual J.Crew Homepage. You can buy it for Christmas!!!

Scandinavian mood

Scandinavian design emerged in the 1950s in the Scandinavian countries Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland. It is a design movement characterized by simplicity, minimalism and functionality.

The Lunning Prize, awarded to outstanding Scandinavian designers between 1951 and 1970, was instrumental in both making Scandinavian design a recognized commodity, and in defining the profile of Scandinavian design. Since 2006, the tradition of a pan-Nordic design award has been resumed with the Forum AID Award.

The idea that beautiful and functional everyday objects should not only be affordable to the wealthy, but to all, is a core theme in the development of modernism and functionalism. This is probably most completely realized in post-WWII Scandinavian design. The ideological background was the emergence of a particular Scandinavian form of social democracy in the 1950s, as well as the increased availability of new low-cost materials and methods for mass production. Scandinavian design often makes use of form-pressed wood, plastics, anodized or enameled aluminum or pressed steel.

The concept of Scandinavian design has been the subject of many scholarly debates, exhibitions and marketing agendas during the last 50 years, but many of the democratic design ideals that were the central theme of the movement survived and are reflected in contemporary Scandinavian and international design.

Amazing Apartment in Stockholm, Swede - ByJack Archer

You don’t find a lot of two floor apartments here in the states that look like this. A prime location in the heart of Stockholm, this apartment has quick access to some of the best restaurants, shopping and international schools in the city. It’s basically its own little oasis, with comfortable design touches throughout. I really dig the light-colored plank flooring and the orignal ceilings left untouched. The mounted family room television is also an advance class lesson on how to seamlessly incorporate technology into your living space, hiding cords nicely and just looking really really good. For those who have incredible taste and close to $4 million laying around, the apartment is currently for sale.
